Doctrinal Statement

OUR BASIC BELIEF

There is and forever will be only One true God, indivisible, almighty, all-knowing, all-good, unchanging, and eternally self-existing in three distinct Persons, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is loving, kind, merciful; righteous, holy; sovereign, just, and trustworthy.

Its sixty-six books alone are the inspired written Word of God, without error in the original text and preserved reliably for us down through the centuries. We accept the understanding of the Bible’s inerrancy in accord with that spelled out by the International Council on Biblical inerrancy.

God both created and sustains the whole universe for His glory. No finite creature will ever be God, but all persons are made in God’s image. However, since the fall of mankind, we have a sinful nature which gives us propensity to sin and a necessity to die.

He was conceived of the Virgin Mary, being fully human and fully God. In Christ, these two natures are united in one person, namely Jesus of Nazareth who is the Second Person of the eternal Godhead.

Jesus died for the sins of all mankind on the cross. He was raised immortal from the dead in the same physical body in which he died and subsequently ascended into heaven in the same physical body to be seated at the right hand of the Father. He will return from heaven in glory in the same body at the Second Coming.

The Holy Spirit brings people to God, lives in believers, gifts us for service, empowers us to live godly lives, and will preserve us in Christ to the final day of redemption.

Believers will live in eternal joy with God. Unbelievers will live in conscious eternal anguish away from God.

OUR BASIC EXPERIENCE

God has given all Christians new spiritual life. We are also given a right standing before God by faith in Christ alone, apart from any good works. Salvation is a free gift of God. Nonetheless, we are called to live a life of good works, endeavoring to please Him in all that we are, say, and do.

The Holy Spirit dwells in all believers, revealing God’s truth to them through his Word, and empowering them to do His Will, overcoming sin.

Strength for living the Christian life comes from abiding in Christ. Although we still sin, Christ is our helper, and we receive forgiveness from him by confessing our sins to God.

We seriously seek to study and apply God’s Word to our lives. We also strive to help others and fellowship in a church. We share the gospel, disciple others in the Faith, worship and pray together. We live our lives in awe of God, enjoying fellowship with Him.

We worship none except the Triune God. We do not engage in astrology or worship through graven images.

OUR BASIC PRACTICE

In all things, as true Christians we strive to love our Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind.

We strive to obey God’s command to be holy and Christ-like in everything. We desire to turn from worldly passions, materialism, and selfish ambition. We seek to give God our lives, money, and time due to him.

We want to both live and learn the truths of the Bible as the complete, errorless, and totally trustworthy written Word of God. We hold the Bible alone to be sufficient for all matters of faith and practice.

We seek to fulfill Jesus’ commanded to love one another. We desire to be kind and merciful towards all, especially those in need. Through God’s strength we strive to regard others’ needs as greater than our own. We strive not to hurt others through with gossip, slander, being a stumbling block, or by a lack of love. We obey all laws that do not conflict with God’s laws.

With other Christians, we obey the Great Commission and preach the Gospel, nurture, exhort, and encourage believers, oppose evil and guard against error. As Christ’s body, we are ambassadors for Christ, to be salt and light in this world.
